Just to wet your appetite and provide a small concept of the range of food styles and dishes served at the Graze Bistro try a couple of these for size. Start with TEMPURA PRAWNS lightly tempura battered prawns served on a bed of jasmine rice, garnished with spring onions & served with soy sauce, or perhaps CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS, whole chicken wings coated in paprika, chilli, herbs & corn flour, fried until crispy, served with a honey chipotle sauce.
If you like the old favourites, HERB & GARLIC SOURDOUGH LOAF brushed with garlic and herb butter then drizzled with olive oil & balsamic glaze or SOUP OF THE DAY a house made soup of the day served with toasted garlic bread.
For a main perhaps, SALT & PEPPER SQUID SALAD, perfectly seasoned squid rested on mixed fresh tomato, Spanish onion & sliced red peppers, dressed with a seeded mustard vinaigrette then drizzled with aioli served with a lemon wedge, or CHAR SUI DUCK pan fried duck breast marinated in a sweet sticky Chinese char sui sauce served on a salad of soba noodles, zucchini, capsicum, coriander, mint, carrot, snow pea sprouts & bok choy drizzled with a chilli caramel sauce.

Something a little more substantial, LAMB SHANKS local Wattle Valley lamb shanks slowly braised with chunky vegetables in a tomato & red wine sauce served on a bed of mashed potato & garnished with gremolata, or 350G SCOTCH FILLET local Spring Valley scotch fillet grilled to your liking, served with oven roasted potatoes, asparagus & Dutch carrots, with your choice of sauce.
For you fishy folk, CRUSTED BARRAMUNDI herb crusted barramundi served on a salad of rocket, bacon, red onion, croutons & shaved parmesan tossed with a citrus dressing, or SEAFOOD PAELLA a medley of prawns, squid & salmon pan fried & served on a bed of Spanish style saffron rice with onion, capsicum, turmeric, garlic & zucchini.

Oven Baked Atlantic Salmon |
Experience: I visited with a small group for a Sunday lunch, (and lots of talking) and was unsure as to what to expect. Last time I was at this venue it was a bit basic. What a change. The venue is well laid out, Staff are professional attentive yet not over the top. You are not hurried in any way, and requests for slight changes to menus are accommodated as far as possible with an air of confidence. Layout is functional and comfortable. I ordered an AVOCADO CHICKEN, Oven baked chicken breast wrapped in bacon on a bed of mashed potato served with asparagus, Dutch carrots, a fresh avocado & cream sauce. It was very tasty, the chicken was well baked but still moist encased in a generous wrap of quality bacon which was just right, a little crispy yet not over-done, not soggy and limp. The mash was creamy although I did have a couple of small lumps, (proves it was real potato!). Veggies, sweet and juicy, the avocado thick well sliced pieces arranged around the plating and the sauce, all I can say is more would have been even better. “Oui le sauce”.

Avocado Chicken on mash with veggies |
In our group (5), I did not see much left on plates, and by the looks of other meals I want to return to try out more. I was challenged to a dessert, I am so glad I didn’t have an entrée, as the desert was almost a main meal size. It was delectable delightful delicious decadent, do you get the message? House made waffle topped with fresh strawberries, house made honey comb shards, vanilla ice cream then drizzled with chocolate sauce. Now when they say waffles, they actually mean waffles. OMG, that is all, I managed to finish but only just. No more need be said, have a look at the photo. Only adding that he who challenged me failed to finish….!

Dessert - yes ONE serve ! |
Summary: Do not be put off by the venue name, location or gaming aspect, you would hardly know you are at a gaming and racing venue unless that is your interest. The Graze bistro would hold its own anywhere and is an ideal venue for a coffee, quick meal, a leisurely lunch (ours was over 3 hours), or a full on function. Good service, good value and a great range of food. The Graze can be busy so bookings are advisable in peak periods at the bistro and certainly for larger groups and/or functions, and can cater for groups of up to 200 in a variety of rooms combinations. “Dish lickers” there or not this is a venue to try.

Just to prove - two serves equal two plates!
