Boredom Busters - Lakes Entrance Esplanade - historical images
Lakes Entrance Esplanade has changed over the years but still to this day provides a long and flat walkway opposite the business hub of the town and adjacent to the moorings of a variety of craft both private and commercial. It wasn't always like this.

Boredom Busters - Birds - Kookaburra
The all Australian bird with its famous laughing call which evokes images of the Aussie bush. Here in East Gippsland we have many of these friendly birds which can become very bold especially at BBq time. The laughing kookaburra belongs to the kingfisher family but unlike most kingfishers that are brightly coloured they are plain coloured. They are a stocky bird with a large head, big brown eyes and a large bill.

ANZAC Day - Lest we Forget
On this day the 25th day of April, we remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country and of the blooding of a great tradition long held between two hitherto young emerging nations.
'At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them'

Munns's Munchies Beef Hotpot with Mushrooms (Slow Cooker)
There is a cooler snap forecast so what better then a warming tasty Hotpot, It is simple and cooked in a slow cooker so you can use cheaper cuts of meat and use any unused veggies in the fridge. Leave it all day long for a good old fashioned meal, especially with fresh crusty bread.

Boredom Busters - History Jemmy's Point Lookout
Jemmy's Point Lookout has long been a feature of the Lakes Entrance area, sitting as it does on top of Kalimna Hill overlooking Bass Strait. A beacon, navigational marker used by many a vessel to gain a run line so as to enter the system over the dangerous sand bar to Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes with a degree of safety. Used by many as a lookout and by fishing families to see "their" boat coming back home after a long trip at sea.

Munns's Munchies - quick Chicken Curry - fruity sweet 'n spicy
Those who know me well will know of my liking for curries, some of which I will admit are somewhat hot, my good lady wife even says that some can walk across the plate all on their own. Indeed, I am apparently famed (more like infamous) in one circle, for cooking a curry whilst "camping in the bush" that few could manage, anyway enough of that. This one is easy fruity sweet yet well spiced, you can adjust the heat to taste. It is quick and easy, cooked in one pot from start to service in under 2 hours.
Munns' Munchies - flapjack easy as...
Flapjack as my dear old Mum called it, and didn't she make it well. I am still trying to emulate her with this one. Simple full of oats, (so good for you) and great with an afternoon cuppa. Very quick very simple and ideal for the kids to cook, it will keep them at bay for a while longer !

Boredom Busters - Photography - Bridges Lakes Entrance
The Footbridge in Lakes Entrance is iconic, and a very necessary structure in order to gain access to the Main Beach. It was for years a wooden and steel structure made, I am told, from some of the old rail/tram lines in Melbourne.
Time came when a new bridge was well overdue, and so the current "Footbridge" was built. We all still call it a footbridge even though small trucks can now access to Main Beach from this modern replacement.

Munns's Munchies - Cafe-Choc Biscuits
This is for those who enjoy a bit of caffeine with their caffeine with an added kick of dark chocolate.
Oh yeah ! These are simple to make and you can vary to your own taste. I like them this way, a good strong hit of coffee, an occasional hit of dark choc chip, a crispy outside and just a little soft in the centre. You can vary the amount of coffee to your taste. Remember I love coffee!!
