Review: MMM Truffles Bairnsdale

Mmm - sit back, relax and enjoy”

Location:             A fresh new location in the CBD of Bairnsdale sees MMM Truffles expanding and providing not only weekday but weekend opening hours.  This location is light bright and interesting, has al fresco tables on the street and inside a retro style array of seating options, “cintique” chairs and lounges, tables for six, four or just two. Take your choice and whilst there you can discover an interesting range of collectibles even some antiques which are displayed for sale. The venue follows the quaint style of Graeme’s Lakes Entrance shop so well liked and patronised with music to suit the collectibles era played “live” on the record player! Table service is provided and a wash room is available on premises.

Menu:                  This is primarily a coffee shop serving a range of coffee styles using Graeme’s own blend, but also serving light refreshments to compliment the range of drinks on offer.   A full range of coffees, a variety of teas to your taste and chocolate, hot or cold, dark milk or white and all made from REAL chocolate, no powered stuff here. The chocolate continues with a well-stocked range of chocolate delights including the now famous MMM Truffles from a French classic recipe dating back to 1882, and “wombat poo” you just have to try some.  Home-made ice cream in a variety of flavours, welcome addition to the menu.

Experience:        I will admit to being a regular at the Lakes Entrance venue and enjoyed my long black in the new Bairnsdale surroundings just as much. Not often you have coffee served in quality china and made so you can add hot water to taste. I am also rather partial to a scone jam and cream and to Graeme’s Rocky Road both on offer here. I sat back in my comfortable 1950’s style chair savouring my coffee and watching the world go by while my wife found something to add to her Melbourne Cup memorabilia while enjoying her cappuccino!

Summary:           Enjoyable relaxing way to have a coffee in an interesting quaint location serving good coffee with plenty of “extras” to tempt you. In fact if it’s anything to do with chocolate this is the place, good range to gifts too, both edible and collectible! Try this new location…Mmm coffee may be a good way to start your day but chocolate makes it better!
