Location:        Well established motel and RSL club in the main Esplanade of Lakes Entrance opposite the western harbour. Parking is on street, in a large car park opposite or at the rear of the motel. Be careful not to impede those staying at the motel though. Access is good from the side of the venue and all accessible, from the front three wide steps (with hand rails) and a sloped walkway provide good access. Seating is comfortable and around tables for 2, 4 8 and above. The venue seats about 180 when full. There is a well-equipped play room for the kids at the end of the dining area full glass walls for complete visual access. Full bar service and food orders taken at separate counter, then meals served to the table. Groups and kids well catered for, but advise booking during high season and for groups at any time. Washrooms have full accessibility and are easily accessed from the dining area.

Menu:      Here you have a choice between a well-rounded Australian menu with all the favourites, steaks, parmas, Kiev’s, fish n chips, etc., and a full Chinese style menu, again with all the favourites. Over and above all these is always a special’s board of including entrees mains and desserts.  Indeed you are spoilt for choice. At lunchtimes there is a separate menu which is a cut down version of the dinner ones also with a specials board. Sausages and vegies seem to figure heavily on the lunchtime menu and long may that last, more later! Vegetarian items are available as are kid’s meals and some GF options. The specials board is well worth taking note of as there are some top value meals to be enjoyed, especially at lunchtime.
Satay Sticks ( 2 to a serve)

Spring Rolls ( 2 per serve)
Experience:       I have been eating at the RSL for years, both for lunch and dinner, I have never gone home hungry, and meals are a very generous serving. Lunch times I normally enjoy the sausages with vegies, two large mystery bags with a variety of well-cooked vegies and lush thick gravy over the “bags”.  On this occasion the bags were augmented by peas, cauliflower and broccoli in sauce, carrots and sliced potatoes in a cheesy sauce with a hint of garlic. (What more can an old “Pom” want?). I cleaned the plate, a good home-cooked style satisfying lunch. On the other hand my wife ( de boss lady!), enjoyed her favourite honey sesame chicken with special fried rice. The honey chicken here is not too sweet and its coating is nicely crunchy. There was a little left on the plate so I was able to agree with her assessment, even though I have to be in the mood for that particular dish.

Garlic Bread
Sausages and Vegies
On another occasion we had a family dinner at the RSL for 7 including a very active 3 year old!  Entries of chicken satay on skewers and spring rolls, neither was oily at all, a really peanuty satay sauce and a dipping soy sauce for the rolls, Garlic bread was Turkish style toasted lightly with a good spreading of garlic and butter.  Again the honey chicken was enjoyed, I went for a chicken satay main (I love satay!!) and a rump steak and chicken kiev was amoung the other orders. Unfortunately the Kiev had split allowing the garlic butter to leak out, but was still enjoyed and was well cooked. The steak was cooked as requested, it was almost hanging off the plate, but could have been trimmed before cooking as there was a fair amount of fat and gristle left on the edges. The kids meal was of spaghetti bolognese and was “devoured by my grand-daughter who seems to have inherited her fathers (and grandfathers love of food!, good on you kid!)
So all round, good meals, very good value and very fast service to the table by friendly staff.
