Public Opinion makes the Difference - a win for Myer Street and Bullock Island.

In company with many other locals, I attended the information session provided by VicRoads at the Lakes Entrance Mechanic Hall yesterday. It was pleasing to note that, due to public opinion and feedback, VicRoads have amended their plans and we are advised, will not be closing off Myer Street at its intersection with the Esplanade. Hooray !

This is indeed great news, and goes to show the power of constructive feedback from the community. There are a few other modifications to the plans for Lakes Entrance which are under consideration to improve traffic flow and provide a safer, environmentally conscious and effective streetscape which, it is hoped, will give a much needed boost to local business. Many of these were voiced in the sessions yesterday, and one which seemed well supported was the continuance of a left turn lane from Esplanade into Myer Street.

If you didn’t get to one of these sessions and still want to have your say, and it is important that you do, you can contact VicRoads by email at gippslandprojects@vicroads.vic.gov.au

With this news, and that from DELWP regarding the re-works at Bullock Island allowing car parking facing the entrance and the removal of many of those now infamous pine posts, it seems that local feedback is at last being taken into account and acted upon.

Never underestimate the power of public opinion and the importance to have your say, provide constructive feedback and amendments to any plans submitted by the various governmental bodies.

It is hoped that our feedback continues to be considered seriously, as has occurred in these two cases.
Thanks to all those who provided feedback.  Thanks to Vic Roads and DELWP.
